Do you remember the one that went something like this:
VoiceOver:"dilaw . . . and kulay ng labanista . . . pula, ang kulay ng komunista..." (translation: yellow, the color of the opposition party. red, the color of the communists...)
Visual: Laban rallies with lots of yellow t-shirted people and yellow flags
VoiceOver: proceeds to say that the yellow rallies were becoming more and more red, becoming more and more communist . . .
Visuals: red tshirted people with red flags looking angry and violent
Ooooh, that made me mad. It was outright lying propaganda! Just because people were for the Laban Party it didn't mean that they were or potentially were communists. Although that's what the commercial was trying to say to the more gullible Filipino.
Do you remember the other one that went something like this:
The other commercial or campaign clip they broadcasted that made me fume was the one with the overseas worker. He would talk about working abroad in Saudi, and would say that he owed all to President Marcos becasue now he was able to earn lots of dollars and send it back home to support his family.
Hello? If it weren't for the poor economical situation
that the Philippines was in, he wouldn't have to be separated from his family
so he could support his family. Well, I would get angry at the whole idea
of this ridiculous commerical because --- Thanks to Marcos, he was abroad
and separated from his wife and children. Thanks to Marcos, people preferred
to earn in dollars rather than in their own country's currency. And thanks
to Marcos, there was a problem of Philippine "brain drain" ---
many filipinos had left the country, since the 70s, to look for better opportunites
to earn money and live a better life outside of the Philippines! And I guess
I'd be yelling all this at the TV again.
Do you remember any stories yourself?
